ESPIREE is an acronym for, Extraordinary Students Pursing Intellectual Readiness through Exercise and Education. The program strengthens the mind, body, and spirit to ensure scholars dominate on the court and in the classroom. This program is meant to be a force for good in our community.
The E.S.P.I.R.E.E. strength and conditioning program happens 6 days a week during the after-school hours. The program is focused on keeping scholars in Uplift Education active year-round and to provide kids in the community an outlet to exercise and gain more education. The mission is to build up the students’ athletes while simultaneously building up the community.
Expect group basketball skills training, speed and agility drills, conditioning, injury prevention techniques, plyometrics, and explosiveness. The strength and conditioning classes are 6 days a week, Monday through Saturday, at different campus within the Uplift Charter school system. The program runs for 10 weeks. Work out sessions are 2 hours.
The first 20 minutes of class are for social emotional learning/journal entry, the last 1hr 40 minutes are for skill development. Athletes will be split into smaller groups; each group conducts drills catered to a specific sport. Participants will receive college credit by turning in their journal entries at the end of the 10 weeks to satisfy their SEL curriculum requirement.
